Meet Heather
Heather Schroeder is the heart behind Inner Harmony Sanctuary, a home-studio wellness space in San Antonio dedicated to helping clients reconnect with balance, clarity, and well-being. With an integrative approach that blends Reiki, sound therapy, aromatherapy, and Roxiva light therapy, she creates deeply personalized sessions that support both relaxation and transformation. Clients often describe her approach as gentle, heart-centered, and refreshingly down-to-earth.
Roots of Her Practice
Heather’s path in holistic wellness spans more than three decades. In the 1990s, she founded Soma Yoga, an Ashtanga school at the Circle School in San Antonio, where she introduced students to the transformative power of disciplined practice and mindful movement. Her curiosity and dedication soon led her deeper into the study of Ayurveda and marma therapy.
She trained in marma therapy with renowned Ayurvedic physician Dr. Vasant Lad in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During that time, she also met her longtime friend Natasha Nandini, a tantra yoga practitioner and classical Indian musician based in London. Their friendship eventually led Heather to travel to India for Shivaratri in Varanasi, where she practiced marma with musicians, experienced Ayurvedic remedies firsthand, and immersed herself in the living traditions of yoga and Ayurveda.
While in Varanasi, Heather also crossed paths by chance with Mark Dyczkowski and Bettina Bäumer, both respected scholars of Kashmir Shaivism. Though her encounters with them were brief, they deepened her appreciation for the Trika philosophy and planted seeds of inspiration that continue to shape her outlook.
Reiki Lineage
Heather was initiated into Reiki Level I and Level II by Susan Mitchell, who, along with her husband Paul Mitchell, studied under Reiki pioneer Hawayo Takata. She is a proud member of the Reiki Alliance, and in 2025 attended their international conference in the Netherlands, where she connected with fellow practitioners dedicated to carrying forward Reiki’s living tradition. This lineage and community continue to inspire and deepen her practice.
Today’s Work
Drawing from this diverse and authentic foundation, Heather integrates ancient wisdom with modern healing tools. Her offerings — Reiki, sound and light based therapies — are grounded in decades of experience yet designed for the needs of today.
Alongside her client work, Heather is expanding her focus toward post-materialist perspectives and the study of consciousness, engaging with international symposia and conversations that explore the bridge between science, spirit, and human potential. This blend of timeless practice and contemporary research allows her to meet clients where they are — offering heart-centered care while staying connected to the latest explorations of what it means to be human.
